On August 22nd, transplant athletes from around the world will gather in Gold Coast, Australia for the 17th World Transplant Games. Taking place every two years, the Games pull together some 1,500 athletes from over 69 countries.
The purpose of the Games is to help demonstrate the benefits of successful organ transplantation, work to increase public attention around the issue in an effort to increase registrations, as well as promote the full rehabilitation and well being of the participants.
Illinois is proud to have the seven recipients below representing our state at the upcoming Games. Congrats and good luck to everyone!
