This past weekend, we had the honor of shooting another video about some amazing members of our Donate Life Illinois community.
Tim and Deb Joos are donor family members who lost their daughter Samantha in a tragic car accident in 2003. We’ve recently blogged about Tim here as Cathy Doheny from the Examiner did an excellent series about Tim, Deb and Sam. In addition, WGN-TV also captured a nice segment that included Tim and Steve Ferkau from over at Revive Hope presenting together. Having now also met Tim in person, I’m not quite sure how anyone watching Tim and Steve present together could walk away with a dry eye.
Pulling together these videos is one of my favorite parts about being involved with the donation community. We love using video to help convey these deeply personal stories and it’s always a challenge to trim down all the great footage into a short online spot.
Tim and Deb are amazing people and it was an honor to finally meet them both in person. We caught a beautiful day to shoot and I could sense Sam was smiling down from above, knowing the great work her parents do as DLI volunteers to spread the word about the gifts Sam gave others through tissue donation. Big thanks to Tim and Deb and we’ll keep you posted as we pull together the spot to help “Remember Sunshine.”

Tim and Deb are amazing people, and their daughter Samantha was truly beautiful – inside and out.
Tim always gives a moving presentation – he and Sam never fail to remind me how precious the gift I received is, and how precious the people and families who give these gifts are… I think we work well together – Tim makes my presentation more meaningful, and I always hope that I show Tim, and our audience, what Sam and Kari and their families have done for others.
I’m very much looking forward to the video you’re putting together for Sam, Tim & Deb – I’ll never forget “Sunshine”…
