We recently launched the Donate Life Illinois Workplace Partners Campaign – an effort to engage businesses, associations and organizations throughout Illinois to encourage and remind their employees of the need to re-register post Jan. 1, 2006 to join Illinois’ new organ/tissue donor registry and ensure your wishes as a donor are carried out.
On the campaign front, we are incredibly grateful to have James Tyree, Chairman & CEO of Mesirow Financial, as the Honorary Chair of our Workplace Partners effort. Tyree, who suffered from juvenile diabetes for 25 years, received a kidney and pancreas transplant last December and resumed work in January.
Last week, Tyree took over as Chairman of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce as reported here in the Chicago Sun-Times. An active civic leader, Tyree has served on more than 50 not-for-profit, civic and corporate boards including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. He also serves as the chairman of the board of the City Colleges of Chicago.
We greatly appreciate Mr. Tyree’s dedication to helping us engage Workplace Partners and his hard work spreading the word about the importance or registering as an organ/tissue donor.
Becoming a Workplace Partner is incredibly simple as we provide all the necessary materials and work with contacts in Human Resources departments to distribute an email to employees that provides a quick link to the online registration form. It’s literally that simple. We can also provide information for a newsletter, send along posters or schedule a registration drive at your workplace to encourage employees to register.
Many of our current Workplace Partners have had great success with the simple email distribution. For example, CareerBuilder.com recently registered over 150 employees in just over one hour by sending out our email template.
