Welcome!
Hi everyone,
Thanks for stopping by, joining up and tuning in. We’re busy on this end ramping up for the Donate Life Illinois campaign and all the various components that will be enacted to help us kick things off in January 2007.
In conjunction with Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network (http://www.giftofhope.org/) and the Illinois Coalition on Donation, the Donate Life Illinois campaign is an 18-month effort to register 3.5 million residents in the state’s new organ donor registry. On January 1, 2006, the registry went into effect, eliminating the need for additional consent and ensuring that your wishes to be an organ donor will be honored.
The new registry is going to help save hundreds of more lives each year, but Illinois residents who registered prior to January 1, 2006 need to re-register to be part of the new registry. Anyone who registers post January 1, 2006 is automatically included in the new registry. We’ve provided links below for Illinois and Indiana (Gift of Hope covers outreach for the northern 3/4 of Illinois and NW Indiana) residents to take a moment and register or re-register.
Illinois residents register or re-register at: https://www.ilsos.gov/organdonorregister/
Indiana residents register at: https://www.indianalastwishregistry.org/donors.aspx
While we are busy preparing the official campaign site, feel free to visit us and join on to our MySpace community at: http://www.myspace.com/donatelifeillinois
Thanks again for joining the community, we love to hear your personal stories and support for this important issue. Feel free to help spread the word on our campaign and encourage any of your Illinois and Indiana family, friends, colleagues, etc. to sign up and help us save lives!
Until next time,
Scott
